The creator of the popular sandbox Garry's Mod, Harry Newman, in an interview with GamesIndustry, spoke about the success of his new creation RUST, which breaks sales records that exceeded all his expectations. Alas, the developer does not give exact numbers, but he assures that in a few months the Facepunch Studios development team managed to earn 40% of what Garry's Mod achieved in nine years. Three days later, the developer in his Twitter said that revenue rose to 55%. A team of 15 people simply cannot believe this phenomenal success.
Analytics minute. Through simple manipulations we find out that Garry's Mod sales amounted to 3.5 million copies, which is more than $ 22 million, and 55% of this amount is $ 12 million. The average price of a game in all regions is $ 11.99. It turns out that the game has already sold in a million copies. The theory is confirmed by the first place in the sale of Steam. This is right before DayZ, whose developers recently reported breaking the million-copy mark. Note that the Steam sales rating is calculated not according to the final values, but intermediate ones.
